I have just published Chapter 4 of Hb and I am looking to push it out to a wider readership. I found a site that list online novels but the email I sent got an instant bounce back so it might be a dead site 
I will keep searching but if anyone reads this and knows of such a thing please comment here.

I have now published Chapter 3 of Hb
When writing I have always worried that the chapters I construct are too short, but then again whoever said a chapter should be a particular length?
The first few chapters of Hb are short but as they are doing the character introductions and setting up some of the themes I guess this is okay. I have notes for another three chapters that are much longer.
It may just be a case of me getting into the way of writing and becoming comfortable with the process and after all that is what the Hb project is designed to do.

In the first chapter of my online novel Hb I have use some words from the Scots Language this link will provide you with an explanation of the language and the dialects within the language as well as a history.
Why did I use it? To some extent because I speak it, maybe not the form that was used as I am from the east coast of Scotland and the scene presented takes place in the west of Scotland, where I now live.
When I construct characters in my head I usually hear them talking first before I know anything else about them. The language the character uses be it Standard English, Scots, American English, Slang and to what extent and in what situations and company the character Code Switches all helps me to build the character more fully.
I have been neglecting this blog and my creative writing for far too long. I have started a new writing project and a new blog, yes I know I have a few already 
The idea is to use one of my writing ideas to produce an online novel and it will be published on its own blog. The plan is to publish at least a chapter a month, initially it may be more.

I must start with a confession. I am not very good at picking up books and reading them. This is not good for one who wants to write. The problem, I feel, is due to an inability to concentrate rather than a weakness in my reading ability. Fairly or not I attribute the cause to many years skim reading technical books to extract information quickly rather than reading books for pleasure or deeper study.
This only partly explains why I had not started reading the book, The Elements of Style, before tonight. I received the book as a Christmas present a year ago.
Tonight I have read the Foreword and Introduction which I normally skip, but this is about changing my habits, and the first chapter, Elementary Rules of Usage. I felt comfortable with the style and pace of the first chapter. Some of the ‘rules’ have already had an influence on this piece of writing so I must have understood some of what I read. I am also sure I have broken some of the ‘rules’, but I aim to break fewer in the future.
